Seagrove Beach visitor guide
Updated October 18, 2026
Seagrove Beach is a wooded, residential beach town in the middle of Scenic Highway 30A, just east of Seaside, known for its oak and magnolia canopy and family-run spots. Its two public regional beach accesses with parking, restrooms and seasonal lifeguards are Seagrove Regional Beach Access (3910 E County Hwy 30A, 23 spaces) and Santa Clara Regional Beach Access (3468 E County Hwy 30A, about 60 spaces split across both sides of 30A). Many smaller neighborhood accesses along 30A are walk-up only.
What is Seagrove Beach like?
Seagrove is the classic, low-key part of central 30A. It's shady and residential, and families come back to it year after year. Visit South Walton says the town is named for its thick grove of windswept trees and has kept its canopy of oaks, magnolias, hickories and sand pines for more than half a century.
Old beach homesteads sit beside newer cottages, and a mix of family-run cafés and shops lines 30A. Seagrove begins at Seaside's eastern edge and runs east past the County Road 395 intersection toward Eastern Lake and Deer Lake State Park.
Public beach accesses and parking in Seagrove
Seagrove has two regional accesses with real parking lots. The rest are neighborhood accesses that you walk or bike to. These counts come from Walton County's July 2026 access chart.
Regional accesses (parking, restrooms, seasonal lifeguards): - Seagrove Regional Beach Access, 3910 E County Hwy 30A. It has 23 parking spaces, restrooms, an ADA-accessible dune walkover with rinse showers and a link to the 30A multi-use path. South Walton Fire District lifeguards staff Tower 21 here daily in season. - Santa Clara Regional Beach Access, 3468 E County Hwy 30A. It has 30 spaces plus 30 more on the north side of 30A, ADA restrooms and boardwalk, a water fountain, a beach flag, and beach wheelchairs in season.
Neighborhood accesses (mostly no parking): These include Dogwood/Thyme (2560 E 30A), Hickory (2624), Live Oak (2680), Nightcap (2722), Hwy 395 (2790), Holly (2844), Azalea/Camellia (2920) and Gardenia (3016). Farther east are One Seagrove Place (57 Seagrove Pl.) and the Eastern Lake accesses off Eastern Lake Road. One of them, at 491 Eastern Lake Rd., has a small parking area. In 2024, the county moved a lifeguard tower from the closed Van Ness Butler access to Dogwood/Thyme, two blocks east of Seaside.
As of October 2026, Walton County's paid parking program covers its Park and Ride lots in Grayton and on CR 393, which aren't in Seagrove. Check posted signs at any access, and expect Seagrove's small lots to fill early in busy season. After Hurricane Isaias, look at the county's recovery updates for access closures.
Getting around Seagrove
A bike is the easiest way around. Visit South Walton calls biking "the preferred method of travel" in Seagrove. The paved Timpoochee Trail runs through town along 30A, switching sides of the road in places. It connects west to Seaside, WaterColor and Grayton and east past Eastern Lake, Deer Lake State Park and WaterSound. At the CR 395 intersection, a separate bike path heads north toward Point Washington State Forest.
Things to do in Seagrove
- Eastern Lake. This scenic coastal dune lake sits on Seagrove's east side. Dune lakes are rare worldwide, and South Walton has 15 named ones.
- Deer Lake State Park. It's just east of Seagrove along the trail, with another dune lake and protected coastal habitat.
- Point Washington State Forest. North of 30A, it has trails through pine forest and cypress areas.
- Old-school 30A. Seagrove Village Market Café has been part of the community since 1949, and Café Thirty-A was one of the first restaurants on Scenic 30A.
Tips for visiting Seagrove
- If you need restrooms and lifeguards, go to Seagrove Regional or Santa Clara Regional. The neighborhood accesses are just a path to the sand.
- Bike to the small accesses. Don't park on the shoulder or in neighborhoods.
- Bring water and sunscreen on the trail, and watch for cars where the trail crosses 30A.
- Stay on marked dune walkovers and paths. The dunes and the dune-lake shorelines are fragile.
