Seacrest Beach visitor guide
Updated October 18, 2026
Seacrest Beach is a family-friendly neighborhood on the east end of Scenic Highway 30A, between WaterSound and Alys Beach, centered on a town square of shops and bike rentals. Walton County's Seacrest Neighborhood Beach Access at 8520 E County Hwy 30A is public but walk-up only, with no parking. The Seacrest Beach community's own beach access, lagoon pool and tram are for owners and guests.
What Seacrest Beach is like
Seacrest is the easygoing, bike-everywhere neighborhood of eastern 30A. Visit South Walton describes a lively town center, open green spaces and a mix of cottages, condos, villas and resorts, with less hustle than its neighbors. Most of the shops and food are clustered around Peddler's Pavilion, a town square with boutiques, a candy shop and beach cruiser rentals.
The Seacrest Beach residential community, started in 1996, sits on 78 acres of palm-lined streets, walking paths and front porches. It is built around one of the largest private pools in Florida, a 12,000-square-foot lagoon pool holding 378,000 gallons, along with 1.35 miles of shaded walking trails. Camp Creek Lake, a coastal dune lake, is just west.
Beach access: public vs. community
There are two kinds of beach access in Seacrest, and they are easy to confuse.
- Public: Seacrest Neighborhood Beach Access, 8520 E County Hwy 30A at Seacrest Drive, is a Walton County access. The county chart lists no parking, no restrooms and no vendor zone, so it is meant for people who walk or bike in. SoWal describes a short boardwalk to a dune walkover on a bluff.
- Community: The Seacrest Beach HOA has a deeded access across 30A through the Sunset community, reached on foot by boardwalk or by the community tram. As of October 2026, the HOA requires guests 8 and older to wear a weekly wristband to use the beach access, tram and lagoon pool.
The community beach is 240 linear feet. The HOA says the eastern half is for rented chair setups, the western half is for people bringing their own gear, and tents and canopies are not allowed. Wheeled coolers, carts and wagons cannot be taken across 30A through the Sunset access. The HOA notes it gets very crowded in busy spring and summer weeks.
Public beaches with parking nearby
If you need a lot, lifeguards or restrooms, the HOA points visitors to these:
- Inlet Beach Regional Beach Access, about 1.2 miles east: restrooms, seasonal lifeguards and roughly 110 spaces across three lots on the county's July 2026 chart. As of October 2026 these lots are not part of the county's paid parking program.
- Camp Helen State Park, about 1.9 miles: a day-use state park on Lake Powell. As of October 2026 it charges $4 per vehicle and has no lifeguards.
- Deer Lake State Park, about 4.4 miles west at 6350 E County Hwy 30A: a boardwalk across the dunes to the beach.
Getting around
Visit South Walton calls bikes the best way to explore Seacrest. Rentals are in the town center, and the Timpoochee Trail runs along 30A through Seacrest, continuing east through Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach to Inlet Beach. The HOA says Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach are within about a 15-minute walk.
From March through October, the Seacrest Beach tram picks up guests at stops in the neighborhood and runs to the beach or the lagoon starting at 9 a.m., with the last beach pickup at 5:30 p.m. (as of October 2026, per the HOA). Walton County's free Beach Park and Ride trams do not serve Seacrest. As of October 2026, those routes run farther west.
Things to do in Seacrest
- Peddler's Pavilion: shops, sweets, a pub and bike rentals in one square.
- The giant beach chair: a favorite photo stop in town, according to Visit South Walton.
- The lagoon pool and amphitheater: the pool is open year-round, 9 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., for residents and guests, and the amphitheater lawn hosts concerts and movies.
Tips for visiting
- No car at the public access. Plan to walk or bike to the Seacrest Drive access, or drive to Inlet Beach Regional.
- Quiet hours: the HOA notes Walton County's noise ordinance runs from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Leave no trace: county code requires all personal items off the beach from one hour after dusk until one hour after sunrise.
