30A beach parking and public beach access
Updated October 18, 2026
Public beach parking on 30A is mostly at Walton County's regional beach accesses, which have small lots, restrooms and seasonal lifeguards; neighborhood accesses are mainly walk-up with little or no parking. As of October 2026, the county charges for parking at three municipal lots (Grayton Beach, County Road 393 and Van Ness Butler), at $15 a day or $5 an hour from March through October and $5 a day from November through February.
How does public beach access work on 30A?
Walton County runs two kinds of public beach access, plus state parks. Regional Beach Accesses (RBAs) are the full-service spots: Visit South Walton lists 11 of them from Miramar Beach to Inlet Beach, with parking, restrooms, showers, bike racks, a surf-condition flag and a lifeguard from March through October. Neighborhood Beach Accesses (NBAs) are smaller public walkways tucked into neighborhoods, designed for walk-up traffic. Most have no parking at all.
Along 30A itself, the regional accesses with county parking (per the county's July 2026 access chart) are:
- Dune Allen RBA, 5999 W Co Hwy 30A: 22 spaces plus 4 LSV spaces
- Fort Panic RBA, 5753 W Co Hwy 30A: 27 spaces
- Ed Walline RBA (Gulf Place), 4447 W Co Hwy 30A: 39 spaces
- Gulfview Heights RBA, 186 Gulfview Heights St: 22 spaces
- Blue Mountain RBA, 2365 S Co Hwy 83: 20 spaces
- Santa Clara RBA, 3468 E Co Hwy 30A: 30 spaces, plus 30 on the north side of 30A
- Seagrove RBA, 3910 E Co Hwy 30A: 23 spaces
- Inlet Beach RBA (east, central and west): 10, 50 and 50 spaces
The biggest public lot in South Walton is off 30A at Miramar Beach RBA (138 spaces in the main lot and 62 in the north lot). A few neighborhood accesses have a handful of spaces, such as San Juan (13) and Walton Dunes (14).
Is there paid parking on 30A?
Yes, at three county lots. Walton County started paid parking on April 3, 2026, at the Van Ness Butler, County Road 393 and Grayton Beach municipal lots. The county says parking at its other municipal lots remains free. As of October 2026:
- March to October: $5 per hour or $15 per day
- November to February: $5 per day
- Disability placard or plate: free (a free annual ADA pass helps avoid citations)
- Passes: Walton County residents $5 a year; non-residents $205 a year or $90 for a 7-day weekly pass (a convenience fee applies)
- Paying: QR code, text-to-pay or kiosk, using your license plate. No cash on site.
- Citations: $40 for non-payment, $80 if paid after 30 days. Parking between midnight and 5 a.m. is $500, or $750 after 30 days.
Paid hours run 5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. every day. The Grayton Beach and 393 lots connect to the free Beach Park and Ride tram. Some private town-center lots, such as in Seaside and WaterColor, also charge; follow posted signs.
Can you use any beach on 30A?
Not every stretch. Walton County says about two-thirds of its beaches are open to the public, and anyone may walk the wet sand along all 26 miles of shoreline. Some beachfront is private, including resort communities such as Seaside, Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach, where rental guests have their own access.
On parcels covered by the county's customary use settlement agreement and court ruling, county guidance says the public may use the area 20 feet landward of the wet/dry line for walking, swimming and similar uses, with sunbathing allowed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and other limits. Visit South Walton's interactive beach access map color-codes public, limited-use and private beach. When in doubt, use a marked public access and read posted signs. When is parking hardest to find?
The county treats March through October as peak season, and that is when its higher parking rates and lifeguard staffing apply. Regional lots hold roughly 20 to 40 cars each, so on busy days they can fill. Practical tips:
- Arrive early, or plan on the tram from a Park and Ride lot.
- Walk or bike to a neighborhood access if you are staying nearby; the paved Timpoochee Trail runs along 30A.
- Park only in marked spaces; LSVs must use spaces designated for motor vehicles.
Hurricane Isaias note: As of October 16, 2026, Walton County Tourism reported an open route to the beach at its regional accesses, but some ADA ramps and walkovers were closed and some flagpoles were down. No flag does not mean the water is safe.

Much of it is. Parking at regional beach access lots is not part of the paid program, but the county's Grayton Beach, County Road 393 and Van Ness Butler lots charge as of October 2026.
What is the difference between a regional and a neighborhood beach access?
Regional accesses have parking, restrooms, showers, flags and seasonal lifeguards. Neighborhood accesses are smaller walk-up paths, usually with no parking or restrooms.
Can I park overnight at a beach lot?
No. County municipal lots are closed from midnight to 5 a.m., and a car left there gets a $500 citation.
