Santa Rosa Beach visitor guide

Updated October 18, 2026

Santa Rosa Beach is South Walton's oldest and largest beach neighborhood, stretching from Choctawhatchee Bay south to the Gulf, and its name is also the mailing address for much of 30A. Visit South Walton points beachgoers to Gulfview Heights Regional Beach Access (22 parking spaces and a picnic pavilion) and Santa Clara Regional Beach Access (30 spaces plus 30 across 30A). Gulfview Heights is also a stop on the free Beach Park and Ride tram.

Is Santa Rosa Beach a town or a neighborhood?

It is a beach neighborhood, but the name does double duty, which confuses a lot of visitors. Visit South Walton describes it as South Walton's oldest and largest beach neighborhood, reaching from Choctawhatchee Bay down to the Gulf.

It is also the mailing address (FL 32459) for much of 30A. Walton County's own beach access chart lists places like Blue Mountain Beach, Gulf Place, Dune Allen and Seagrove with "Santa Rosa Beach, FL" addresses. So if your rental says Santa Rosa Beach, check the exact address to see which beach neighborhood you are actually in.

Where is the public beach in Santa Rosa Beach?

Visit South Walton's Santa Rosa Beach page sends beachgoers to two regional beach accesses:

Nearby on the west side, Ed Walline Regional Beach Access at Gulf Place (4447 W Co Hwy 30A) has 39 spaces, restrooms, a picnic pavilion and ADA access, and the South Walton Fire District offers beach wheelchairs there during lifeguard season. Lifeguards staff regional accesses from March through October.

There are also many small neighborhood accesses with no parking, meant for people walking from nearby homes and rentals. Use marked public accesses and read posted signs; some beachfront along 30A is private.

Parking and the free tram

As of October 2026, regional beach access lots are not part of Walton County's paid parking program, but they are small. The tram is the easiest backup:

The two Park and Ride lots charge $5 per day from November through February and $15 per day or $5 per hour from March through October; the tram ride itself is free. Details are in our free shuttle guide and beach parking guide.

What to do beyond the beach

Santa Rosa Beach has more inland green space than most of 30A:

Hurricane Isaias update: As of October 16, 2026, Walton County Tourism reported open restrooms and walkovers at Gulfview Heights and Ed Walline. The Gulfview Heights flagpole needed repair, so check conditions before swimming; no flag does not mean safe water. At Ed Walline, the beach accessibility mat had not yet been reinstalled.
