Dune Allen is the quiet, nature-focused beach neighborhood at the west end of 30A. Its two public regional beach accesses are Dune Allen (5999 W Co Hwy 30A, 22 spaces plus 4 LSV spaces) and Fort Panic (5753 W Co Hwy 30A, 27 spaces), both with restrooms and both served by the free Beach Park and Ride tram. Nearby Topsail Hill Preserve State Park (7525 W County Hwy 30A) was closed after Hurricane Isaias as of October 18, 2026.
What is Dune Allen like?
Dune Allen is the low-key western end of 30A, popular with people who want beach time plus nature. Visit South Walton calls it a beach hideaway for nature lovers, with miles of trails and five coastal dune lakes hidden behind the dunes: Allen, Campbell, Morris, Oyster and Stallworth. Visit South Walton notes these lakes are home to wetland plants and rare ecosystems.
Visit South Walton pitches it as an off-the-beaten-path getaway with old Florida charm, where lodging ranges from rustic beach cottages to guesthouses and vacation homes. Dune Allen addresses use Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
Where are the public beach accesses in Dune Allen?
Dune Allen has two regional beach accesses, both with restrooms, ADA access, a managed beach-chair vendor and seasonal lifeguards (March through October), per Walton County's July 2026 chart:
- Dune Allen Regional Beach Access, 5999 W Co Hwy 30A: 22 spaces plus 4 LSV spaces.
- Fort Panic Regional Beach Access, 5753 W Co Hwy 30A: 27 spaces.
Several neighborhood accesses serve walk-up beachgoers. Most have no parking, but two have a few spaces:
- Lake Causeway, 5173 W Co Hwy 30A: 5 spaces.
- West Allen Loop, 5605 W Co Hwy 30A: 8 streetside spaces.
Others, such as the Palms of Dune Allen accesses, Bullard Road, Beach Highlands and Stallworth Preserve, have no parking. Respect posted signs, stay off the dunes and remember that some beachfront here is private.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, which Visit South Walton features as part of a Dune Allen visit, is at 7525 W County Hwy 30A. Florida State Parks says it is named for dunes that rise like a ship's sails, with the namesake dune about 25 feet tall, and it has about 3 miles of beach, more than 10 miles of trails, and Campbell Lake, a coastal dune lake open to paddling. Thirteen imperiled species live in the park, including the Choctawhatchee beach mouse.
Normally the park is open 8 a.m. to sunset every day and charges $6 per vehicle. It offers 22 tent sites, 156 RV sites, 16 bungalows and 16 cabins, and a tram carries visitors to the beach. In summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), the county's Dune Allen Local tram also stops at the park.
Current status: Effective October 18, 2026, Florida State Parks says the park and its overnight accommodations are closed due to Hurricane Isaias. Separately, the main beach boardwalk has been closed for construction since September 16, 2026. Check the park's page before you go.
County beach accesses after the storm: As of October 16, 2026, Walton County Tourism reported open restrooms and walkovers at both Dune Allen and Fort Panic. The ADA ramp at Dune Allen was closed, while Fort Panic's ADA ramp was open.
